Christian Service


Every year Nativity students serve others as Jesus Christ served his community. Volunteering without compensation is an important part of spiritual growth and promotes a healthy community. Service should be a challenge and an opportunity to put on display our students' Catholic values in their communities.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE 2025-2026
CHRISTIAN SERVICE HOURS ARE THE FOLLOWING:
Kindergarten - 3rd Grade

These grades will fulfill their service hours with a whole-class project.

K-3rd will monitor hours completed as a whole class.

Service Ideas
These are just a few ideas. Remember that the service hours must be provided to people not related to you. Also, money or goods may not be received for providing the service. If you have questions about whether or not a volunteer opportunity will count as service, please ask your teacher.
IMPORTANT: You must seek parent permission before volunteering service to a neighbor or agency. Parent supervision is recommended.
Serve in a parish ministry: alter serving, choir, greeters, food drives, etc.
Organize a campus clean-up day or a beach or park clean up day
Help at an animal rescue pet adoption day
Help an elderly neighbor take out their trash, wash their car, rake leaves, etc.
Organize a clothes drive to donate to the needy
Keep score, stats or time at a CYO volleyball or basketball game
Help a teacher organize bookshelves, clean whiteboards, or organize desks/chairs, etc.
Make blankets for the homeless or rosaries to give away
Water a neighbor's plants
Feed and/or walk a neighbor's dog while they're away
Any number of hours may be gained by altar serving, choir, or church ministry.
A maximum number of 10 hours may be gained for service as a Student Council Member.
Student Christian Service Hours Awards
Grades 4-8: After completing the required number of Christian Service hours will receive a certificate of accomplishing this noble goal at the end of the year.
