PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Dear Prospective Bruin Family,

Thank you for visiting us on-line!  We recognize the careful discernment by parents and guardians in choosing an educational program for their child and we thank you for considering a Catholic education at Nativity!

When my husband and I were looking for an educational "home" for our sons, we knew we wanted a place that shared our values in raising children. Our journey toward a deep, abiding relationship with Jesus Christ through the Catholic Church had brought many graces and blessings, so we desired a school that was rooted in Catholic principles where the teachers practiced the faith and, thus, embodied the ideology of nurturing students toward their God-given potential with the ultimate prize of heaven. We also desired a school with a strong sense of community where our family could build long-lasting friendships. We found all of this in our local Catholic school and remained members of the community for nineteen years.  Our sons graduated from 8th grade in 2012 and 2020; both went to Catholic high schools -- Mary Star High School and Bishop Montgomery High School.

Here at Nativity Catholic School, those same charisms of a strong community with shared Catholic values exist. We are a close-knit, welcoming community, nestled safely in the heart of the City of Torrance. Educating students for over 75 years, the school holds a rich tradition of academic excellence, rooted in gospel values. Dedication to developing the whole-child is our top priority. Our students are guided daily in the practice of Catholic christian living by fostering a relationship with Jesus Christ through prayer, scripture reflection, frequent reception of the Sacraments and service to others. Academically, we take pride in providing a traditional, challenging and comprehensive curriculum for Transitional Kindergarten through 8th Grade.  Beyond academics, we offer enrichment courses during and after school that develop skills in art, music, language, STEM, robotics and athletics. It is our goal to ensure that all learners are supported in reaching and exceeding course benchmarks, and, ultimately, their highest potential, intellectually and spiritually.

Our teachers, who view their calling to Catholic education as missionary in spirit, are one of the main reasons why families choose Nativity, as their devotion to our lord and their care for each soul is at the heart of all we do.  Nevertheless, nothing compares to in-person experiences; therefore, I encourage you to contact the school for a visit where you may encounter the love and care of our community first-hand and learn of the beauty and successes of Nativity Catholic School.

In Christ,
